Sara Hope

Sara successfully applied for an advertised Apprenticeship position and started here in January 2006. She chose Lindsay Dynan based on her impression that everyone she came into contact with was friendly and helpful and it simply seemed like a good place to work.

Aside from the people, Sara also likes the variety and type of projects she is given. The majority of her projects are civil and include substations, subdivisions and some commercial developments.

When Sara first started she received intense support from an assigned Apprentice who had started two years earlier as well as the guidance provided by her mentor. More recently, each draftsperson has been assigned a Team Leader who acts as a workload manager, who you can approach with any problems and offers support where needed. Sara has also received software training such as in Civil3D, Advanced Road Design and Autotrack as well as general AutoCAD training on an ongoing basis.

A typical day involves checking emails, a debriefing with her Team Leader about what’s on for the day and completing the drafting tasks on her 'to-do list'. There are often meetings with a project manager, contact with clients as well as site visits.

Sara finds the culture at Lindsay Dynan is really friendly where even senior management is approachable. There are social gatherings every couple of months, Friday afternoon drinks and often people will organise sporting events where everyone can take part, such as ‘The Ultimate Sportsperson Challenge’ which is to be held next in the discipline of Darts!

The three words Sara would use to describe Lindsay Dynan: Enjoyable, Rewarding and Diverse.
